Princess Academy follows Miri, a young girl living on a secluded mountain where her family has quarried stone for generations in a simple way of life. The village suddenly receives news that the king’s priests have declared their small community as the future home of the princess. Within a year, the prince himself will visit to select his bride from among the girls of the village. To prepare, an academy is established on the mountain, and every teenage girl must attend and learn how to become a princess.

Miri quickly faces challenges such as a strict academy mistress, intense competition with her peers, and conflicting desires to be chosen by the prince and maintain her relationship with her childhood best friend. When bandits target the academy to kidnap the future princess, Miri must gather the girls and use a unique power specific to the mountain dwellers to protect herself and her classmates.
