This authoritative collection is the most widely used, trusted, and comprehensive topically organized resource for introducing students to philosophy through classical and contemporary readings. It serves as an essential guide, designed for ease of use by both students and instructors.

Introduction to Philosophy: Classical and Contemporary Readings integrates helpful pedagogical features throughout. These include boldfaced key terms, which are conveniently listed after each reading and thoroughly defined in a comprehensive glossary. The book also provides a “Logical Toolkit” to enhance critical thinking skills, a practical guide to writing philosophy papers, and insightful study questions following each reading selection to stimulate discussion and comprehension.

The eighth edition significantly broadens its scope by featuring nine new selections. These additions enrich the text by including works from prominent non-Western philosophers and influential contemporary women philosophers, offering a more diverse and inclusive perspective on philosophical thought.
