This manual is the 15th Edition, 2nd Printing of the AISC Steel Construction Manual, first published in 1927 and recently updated to comply with modern standards. It replaces the 14th Edition Manual originally published in 2011. Key specifications, codes, and standards included are the 2016 AISC Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings, the 2014 RCSC Specification for Structural Joints Using High-Strength Bolts, and the 2016 AISC Code of Standard Practice for Steel Buildings and Bridges.
The manual features comprehensive updates in tabular information and discussions to align with the latest specification requirements. Shape information is updated to reflect ASTM A6/A6M-14 throughout. Larger pipe, HSS, and angle sizes have been incorporated into dimensions and properties tables in Part 1. Available compressive strength tables are expanded to include 65- and 70-ksi steel for a limited number of shapes.
New design aids are included in Part 6, providing width-to-thickness slenderness limits for various steel strengths and summarizing available flexural, shear, compressive, and tensile strengths for W-shapes in one table. Part 9 introduces a new interaction equation based on a plastic strength approach to connection design, along with a novel method for designing coped beams based on recent studies.
Additionally, numerous other improvements have been made throughout the manual, ensuring it remains a comprehensive resource for steel construction professionals.
