Description: This book offers a new introduction to the rapidly developing field of natural theology, written by one of the world’s leading theologians. Engaging in serious theological dialogue, it examines how past developments might illuminate and inform theory and practice in the present. The text explores what a properly Christian approach to natural theology could look like and its relevance to alternative interpretations of our experience of the natural world. Alister McGrath, known for his expertise in theology and as a chief proponent of natural theology, is ideally positioned to address these issues. This work traces the historical development of natural theology while providing insights into its potential contributions today, feeding into current debates about the relationship between science and religion, and between religion and the humanities. The dialogue includes works by Augustine, Aquinas, Barth, Brunner, as well as natural scientists, philosophers of science, and poets.
