Tarzan the Terrible continues the adventures of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ legendary character in a thrilling tale set against the backdrop of Africa’s untamed wilderness. After discovering his wife Jane’s burnt corpse during a German invasion, Tarzan embarks on a relentless pursuit to rescue her. His journey leads him to the enigmatic Pal-ul-don, a hidden valley filled with prehistoric wonders and peculiar inhabitants. In this strange land, Tarzan encounters Ta-den, a hairless white-skinned Ho-don warrior, and O-mat, the hairy black-skinned Waz-don chief of the Kor-ul-ja tribe. As Tarzan adapts to his new surroundings, he is captured but proves himself so formidable that he earns the title “Tarzan-Jad-Guru,” meaning “Tarzan the Terrible.” Meanwhile, another visitor arrives in Pal-ul-don—a lone man dressed in little more than a loin cloth and armed with an Enfield rifle—whose presence foreshadows a dangerous conflict. This novel explores themes of survival, loyalty, and the clash between civilization and the primitive world.
